Integrative Health Pathways- Personalizing Your Health Using Your Genes Part 1

The Integrative Health Pathways Group is a women’s support group that meets monthly to support targeted wellness goals. This is a virtual group where participants receive direct education on energetic composition, lifestyle habits, nutrition, mind-body exercises and more directly from Dr. Kourtney. During this time participants are also able to ask and answer questions and receive support from other group participants

I just wanted to let you know that I've started on my yoga practice. Sun salutations in the morning have been fantastic, and I've also been using the app to meditate before sleep. IHP Group Participant

I have been working on being more intentional these past couple of weeks. Overall, my water intake has increased because I set a reminder on my phone. I have included more plant based meals into my diet. I'm practicing Vinyasa flow and meditation at least twice a week. Also, starting Monday I'm cutting out sugar, dairy, and alcohol for at least 7 days. IHP Group Participant

This month’s group is all about how to personalize your health by using your genes! This topic is such a large topic that this will be a 2 part series with the 2nd group on this to occur next month.

Why learn about nutrigenomics and SNP's?

I'll tell you why!  It's because your genes are unique. They tell the story of you, and only you; no one else has ever had the same genetic makeup. That’s awesome, because instead of having to do what works okay for most, you can do what works best for you. 

Here's some of what learning about your SNP's can do for you:

 

  • Healthy heart – find out how your genes are supporting your heart health and how you can support your cardiovascular system;

  • Weight Loss – your genes have a big role to play in how your body manages weight, find out insights to help you manage your weight intelligently;

  • Hormones – find out how well your hormones work and get insights about whether you should be avoiding taking hormones, such as the contraceptive pill or testosterone;

  • Immunity - how well are your genes working to fight off viruses, knowing how healthy your immune system is and what you can do to build a strong immune system are important in these times;

  • Exercise– find out what training works best for you, how to get fit and avoid injury by training smarter;

  • Brain health - what you can do to optimize cognition as you get older;

  • Optimal diet – Find out how well you process nutrients such as gluten, vitamin D, caffeine, and much more.

    This group will include a group exercise and guided meditation in self-compassion along with some group discussion. If you register and cannot attend the educational session and guided meditation will be recorded for replay later. To ensure a safe space during the group discussion that portion will not be recorded.
