The Labs First Approach
Sometimes you know you want to look deeper, but you are not quite ready to establish ongoing care or invest in a full functional medicine consultation.
That is exactly why we created Labs First.
Labs First allows you to begin with selected advanced laboratory testing and gain a better understanding of the patterns your results may be showing before deciding whether you want to take the next step into individualized care with Dr. Kourtney.
There is no requirement to enroll in an ongoing program.
You choose the area you would like to explore, complete a brief health and safety intake, and request the corresponding laboratory testing. Once your testing is complete, you will receive an educational summary designed to make the report easier to understand and help you identify areas you may want to explore more deeply with a qualified healthcare provider.
Labs First may be a good fit if:
You have been curious about functional testing but are not ready for a full consultation.
You want more information about your hormones, gut health, nutrition, inflammation, metabolism, or other health patterns.
You have had basic testing before but feel that it did not give you the depth of information you were looking for.
You want time to review your information before deciding whether you want individualized functional or integrative care.
You prefer to begin with data first.
When Should I Think About Getting Labs First?
Choose Labs First when your primary goal is to obtain testing and better understand the information contained in your results.
Labs First includes educational lab insights but does not include diagnosis, individualized medical treatment, medication or hormone management, personalized supplement protocols, or an individualized treatment plan.
How Labs First Works
1. Complete Your Labs First Intake and Consents
You will complete a brief intake that provides the information needed to determine whether the requested testing is appropriate for the Labs First pathway.
Depending on your location and the testing selected, your order may be reviewed and authorized by Dr. Kourtney or an independent licensed clinician.
If the information you provide suggests that your concerns require direct medical evaluation rather than a Labs First approach, you may be advised to pursue a consultation or other appropriate medical care instead.
2. Select Your Testing
Depending on the test, you may visit a local laboratory or complete an at-home collection kit.
3. Receive Your Educational Lab Summary
After your completed results are available, you will receive the educational information included with your selected Labs First option.
Your summary is designed to help you understand what was measured, the general patterns reflected in your report, and areas that may deserve additional discussion or evaluation.
4. Decide What Comes Next
There is no obligation to continue into care.
You may take your results back to your own healthcare provider, continue monitoring on your own, or choose to schedule a formal consultation with Dr. Kourtney if you want individualized interpretation, recommendations, or a more comprehensive functional strategy.
